JK Express (“JK Express”, “we”) provides road transport, warehousing and related technology services. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, the Customer Portal, tracking links, WhatsApp notifications and our driver applications, and how we handle it in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
1. Information we collect
- Account data — name, work email, mobile number, company, GSTIN and role when you register, request a quote, contact us or apply for a role.
- Consignment data — consignor and consignee details, addresses, material descriptions, e-way bill numbers, LR and POD documents, and delivery contact numbers provided for a shipment.
- Telematics data — vehicle location, speed, fuel level, engine data, dashcam events and driver identification generated by devices fitted to JK Express vehicles. This data relates primarily to our own vehicles and employed drivers.
- Usage data — pages visited, device and browser type, IP address and approximate location when you use the website, portal or a tracking link.
2. How we use it
To place vehicles, execute and track consignments, generate LRs, e-way bills, PODs and GST e-invoices; to send operational alerts by SMS, WhatsApp, email or call; to run the control tower, safety and maintenance programmes; to process quotations, contracts, claims and payments; to comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations; and to improve the service. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Tracking links & telematics
Tracking links show the live position of a consignment to anyone who holds the link. Links are unique per consignment, expire after delivery and can be revoked by the consignor on request. Telematics data about vehicles and drivers is used for safety, compliance, maintenance and billing accuracy; driver-facing camera footage is retained for 30 days unless required for an incident investigation, insurance claim or legal process.
4. Sharing
We share data only as needed to deliver the service: with the consignee and consignor of a shipment; with insurers, surveyors and claim handlers; with statutory portals such as the GST, e-Way Bill and VAHAN systems; with our technology providers (hosting, telematics, messaging) under contractual confidentiality; and with authorities when legally required. Employees and coordinators access data on a need-to-know basis under role-based permissions.
5. Retention & security
Consignment, billing and compliance records are retained for eight years to meet tax and statutory requirements. Portal accounts are retained while active and for 24 months after the last login. Data is stored on servers located in India, encrypted in transit and at rest, protected by access controls, logging and regular reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting you occurs we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required.
6. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, withdraw consent for non-essential communications, nominate a person to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance. Requests can be made from the portal (Account → Privacy) or by writing to the Grievance Officer below. We respond within 15 working days. Some data cannot be erased while a statutory retention period applies.
7. Cookies
This website uses strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. Embedded maps may set their own cookies subject to the map provider's policy.
